On January 1, 2022, Tarun Chandran joined the Foundation for Affordable Housing as our General Counsel. For thirty years, the mission of the Foundation family of nonprofits has been to improve communities throughout the country by helping build affordable housing for low-income individuals and families, persons with special needs and seniors.
As outside counsel to the Foundation for the past eight years, Tarun watched the Foundation grow as an organization in capability and experience to become the preferred nonprofit partner for many of the nation’s premiere affordable housing developers. The Foundation now helps provide more than 60,000 people with safe and affordable housing and, through a growing resident services division, enriches many of the communities that it participates in.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Tarun was in private practice for eighteen years, representing a variety of clients in commercial real estate transactions (including acquisitions, dispositions, real estate-secured financing, and commercial leasing transactions), including representing the Foundation for the past eight years as outside counsel.
Tarun lives in Chicago, Illinois with his wife, Liz, and their children, Leila and Theo. Tarun and his family enjoy traveling, spending time in the great outdoors, and enjoying all the restaurants, museums and festivals that Chicago has to offer.
As we begin a new year, we are thrilled to have Tarun join the Foundation as its General Counsel to assist in its important mission.
