In a huge win for families and those who need affordable housing, Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) is investing $100 million into the development and preservation of 261 affordable rental homes across the state. The projects were approved earlier this month and cover both urban and rural areas, aiming to expand access to housing across Oregon.
Cities that will be affected, according to the OHCS press release include:
These projects will receive funding from both state and federal sources, including Low-Income Housing Tax Credits and Oregon Affordable Housing Tax Credits. The funding mix also includes programs such as Permanent Supportive Housing and Local Innovation and Fast Track (LIFT). Two additional housing projects received financing through private activity bonds and additional LIFT funds to complete their funding. The combination of all these sources of funding is evidence that all of the hard-fought legislation our local and state leaders have won to help ease the creation and maintenance of affordable housing in Oregon is paying off.
