Embrace receives $95,000 grant from Senior Assistance Foundation Eastbay (SAFE)

Embrace has received a $95,000 grant from Senior Assistance Foundation Eastbay (SAFE) to provide a robust activities program for Northgate Terrace in Oakland, CA. The low-income senior residents of Northgate Terrace will benefit greatly from SAFE’s generous grant award which will fund an activities and social program to include bingo, movies and games, guest speakers, arts and crafts monthly socials and gatherings, gardening, exercise, a lunch program, field trips and twice monthly outings to a local retail establishment.

By providing coordinated onsite activities for all residents, we help them keep their minds active, their bodies moving, and their emotional state strong. Onsite activities present residents with a purpose and a reason to be involved in their lives and their community. These programs help to minimize depression and increase our residents’ physical, mental, and social activity level.

Both SAFE and Embrace encourage an active lifestyle for seniors and feel it is important to provide many opportunities for social and intellectual interaction. Our combined goal is to allow our seniors to age in place in a safe, comfortable, and active community.

Embrace was created in 1999 to expand FFAH’s mission to “Create safe, comfortable, affordable housing”. FFAH wanted to pursue a more personal impact on its residents and the greater community. To this end, FFAH adopted the mission “Building homes, creating communities, enriching lives”, and this deeper, more personal focus gave birth to Embrace.
