Since it’s formation in 1988, the mission of Foundation for Affordable Housing has been to create safe, comfortable, high-quality, affordable homes for very-low-to moderate-income people.  We believe that “Home” is more than the roof over one’s head.  Home is that corner of the world one can call their own—a space to find respite or to welcome one’s family and friends.   Having a home is essential to the happiness and well-being of people and the community in which they live.

The home is woven into the fabric of society and creates the color and texture of the community itself.  A home must be affordable for the survival of the individual and the good of the community.  Safety and comfort at home are basic to the quality of one’s life. A quality home environment generates a sense of self-respect and dignity that extends beyond the confines of one’s own residence and into the community at large.

By using creativity, flexibility, and perseverance, the Foundation has developed 8,965 units of affordable housing in 90 rental communities located in California, Colorado, Texas, and North Carolina.  The Foundation is proud of the role they have played in creating affordable homes and humbled by the overwhelming need that still exits.
