Deborrah has overseen the acquisition and development of more than 6,800 units of affordable family housing during her 25-year tenure with the Foundation. She is responsible for business development, contract negotiations, and community and partnership relations. She received a B.A. in Social Sciences from the University of California, Irvine. Deborrah also is the president of Embrace, the resident services arm of the Foundation. Embrace serves family and senior communities in California and North Carolina.

Tom has accumulated over 40 years of experience in real estate development and consulting. During his 25-year tenure with the Foundation, Tom has supervised the acquisition and development of almost 5,000 units of affordable senior housing using commercial lenders, tax credits, and tax-exempt bonds. Tom holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Montana, with a focus in Business Management, Economics, and Marketing. He also served as an officer in the United States Army

Reverend Scott Awbrey
Scott is the founding minister of One Light Faith Community in Loveland, Colorado, where he serves his local congregation and volunteers for a local food bank and shelter for the homeless. He has served in ministry for more than 25 years as a pastor and as a hospital/hospice chaplain. Scott currently serves on the board of the Progressive Christian Alliance of Colorado. He was an instructor for the Holmes Institute Seminary, served on the board of the Mile Hi Church Foundation, and was a member of the Colorado Planned Giving Roundtable. He also worked as a community educator in Denver in the field of palliative care and end-of-life needs. Scott, who holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism/public relations from the University of Texas, served as the Director of Communications for both the United Church of Religious Science in Los Angeles, and for Re/Max of America in Denver, where he was the Editor of North American Real Estate Magazine.
Prior to joining the Foundation in April 2013, Darrin was co-founder and Managing Principle of SureHarbor, LLC, a firm specializing in structuring public finance opportunities for housing and infrastructure projects. Darrin has planned and implemented approximately $500 million in tax-exempt bond financing throughout California and was involved in the formation of one of Hawaii’s first Community Facilities Districts. Darrin holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis on Real Estate finance and a minor in Law and Public Policy from the University of Southern California.
Erica L. Teel
Erica is a licensed spiritual counselor who helps individuals resolve personal issues and provides bereavement support. She has served on the boards of Judi’s House, a Colorado non-profit company established by NFL Quarterback Brian Griese to comfort grieving children and adults, the Children’s Hospital, the Jefferson County Public Schools Truancy Reduction Program, and works with Bridgeway, an organization providing residential support and education for homeless, pregnant teens. Erica is also a member of an award winning improv troupe that performs in major metropolitan comedy clubs. She now teaches day-long and weekend workshops designed for those who are new to improv.
Roger W. Teel, D.D.
Roger is a life-transforming speaker and a global spiritual leader. Backed by exceptional academics, including a degree in psychology and religion from the University of Denver and a Doctor of Divinity from the Ernest Holmes College School of Ministry, Roger has served pulpits in Oregon, California, and Colorado, where he serves as Senior Minister and Spiritual Director to over 10,000 Mile Hi Church members and friends. As a global leader, Roger has served as Chairman of the International Board of Trustees for Centers for Spiritual Living, and is Co-founder of the Association for Global New Thought. He assisted in facilitating the Synthesis Dialogues with acclaimed global leaders including His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, and he has served on the boards of the Interfaith Alliance of Colorado, the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence, and the Community First Foundation. Dr. Roger Teel is also a published author and explores how one can transform their lives into a spiritual journey in his new book, “This Life Is Joy”.
Ray M. Waters
Ray is President of Shorebank Enterprise Detroit, a company that provides growth capital to minority owned businesses. Ray is also Managing Director of Detroit Community Loan Fund, which creates financing packages for developers working on affordable housing projects and neighborhood commercial developments in the city. Ray has over 25 years experience as Founder and CEO of profitable growth companies. He has served on the National Advertising and Franchise Committee of the Hertz Corporation and the National Distributor Board of the Adolph Coors Company. Ray also worked as a member of the External Advisory Board School of Business Management of Eastern Michigan University, the MEDC Governor’s Innovation Council, the Michigan Venture Capital Association, and president of the New Enterprise Forum.
Shige Itoh, J.D
Shige is a partner with the law firm of Rutan & Tucker, LLP where he represents clients in all aspects of corporate and business law, including mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financing, public and private placements of securities, securities regulation, joint venture transactions, licensing, and general representation. Shige also represents lenders and borrowers in a broad range of finance transactions. He received his J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley, School of Law (Boalt Hall). He received his B.S. in Management Science (Quantitative Economics) and B.A. in Japanese Studies from the University of California, San Diego, where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa and graduated summa cum laude. Shige was the recipient of the Joel Dean Award recipient in Management Science.
Since 2002, Tim has been President/CEO of First LandMark USA, Inc. (FLM) and its affiliates, including its property management subsidiary Guardian Management. FLM is a real estate investment and services firm based in Charlotte NC. Tim is responsible for property development, acquisition, rehabilitation, financing, asset management, and disposition. Tim earned a bachelor’s degree in German with a minor in economics from Davidson College and an MBA degree with a specialization in real estate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a Business Foundation of North Carolina Fellow. Tim is a former Board member and past President (2007) of the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association (GCAA). He is currently President of the Apartment Association of North Carolina (AANC).
Allison Fletcher, J.D.
Allison Fletcher holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a Certificate in International Relations from the University of Utah. She later graduated from the University of Utah College of Law with honors, and has been admitted to practice in Utah State and Federal Courts. Prior to attending law school, Allison worked as a licensed financial advisor. Allison focuses her legal practice in general insurance defense and personal injury defense. She is also president of her homeowner’s association.
Stanford Smith, J.D.
Stan addresses a wide range of legal issues facing the Foundation: protecting our nonprofit status; qualifying for governmental financing and property tax exemptions; reviewing documents; and, contributing to management’s growth plans. During his 43-year legal career, Stan has counselled private and public companies in a variety of industries, lectured internationally in strategic planning, taught as an adjunct professor University of Utah College of Business, served in the Utah House of Representatives, and spent 11 years as a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
Carmen began her career in the Property Management field in 1999. Carmen has more than thirteen years of experience in multifamily affordable and senior housing. The properties that she has overseen have received government assistance such as section 8 subsidies, Low Income Housing Tax Credit, and equity and tax exempt bond financing. Carmen holds a certification with Quadel Consulting Corporation and the National Leasing Housing Association and is a Certified Assistant Housing Manager. She has focused her career to Senior Communities in order to provide higher living conditions and an active lifestyle. Carmen is fluent in Spanish and English, and she joined the Foundation board of trustees in 2010.
Evan is an Asset Manager with Mark IV Capital, a privately held commercial real estate development and investment firm based in Newport Beach. He oversees the development, acquisition, disposition and asset management of the firm’s office, medical office, and industrial assets in the Orange County and Denver Markets. While with Mark IV Capital, Evan has also underwritten multifamily projects for joint venture investments as well as evaluated venture capital opportunities. Evan has a background in commercial construction with project management experience in ground up construction in the office, hospitality, and institutional sectors. Evan is a LEED Accredited Professional and holds a bachelor degree in Policy, Planning & Development, a Master of Business Administration degree and a Master of Real Estate Development degree from the University of Southern California.
Mike is currently a Senior Project Manager for Redhawk Builders, Inc., a commercial General Contractor specializing in medical, commercial, industrial, and tenant improvements, located in Irvine, CA. He is responsible for business development, project estimating, and project management throughout Southern California. Since Mike’s arrival to Redhawk Builders in 2011, he has been instrumental in the development and growth of Redhawk Builders by doubling the company’s volume within his first year. Mike has an extensive background in project management and construction oversight, managing well over $100 million in construction projects throughout his career, including several years working for the Irvine Company. Mike holds a bachelor degree in Policy, Planning, and Development from the University of Southern California.
Mike serves as Asset Manager for our Northern California properties. After Graduation from Montana State University with a BS in Mechanical Technology, Mike was a pilot for Northwest Airlines from 1968 to 2005, starting on the Boeing 707 and retiring as a 747-400 Captain. During that span of 37 years, Mike served as the Chairman of the Board of the Airport Community Counseling Office, the Airport Chaplaincy in Minneapolis-St. Paul. Mike also was heavily involved in work for the Airline Pilots Association, serving as a Contract Administrator, and three elected terms as a Captain Representative to the ALPA Board of Director’s. From 1998 to 2006 Mike served on the Northwest Airlines Board of Directors.
Bobby is a Manager Director with BTIG, a broker dealer specializing in global trading and fund services for hedge funds, mutual funds, separate accounts and family offices. He helps oversee the Outsource Trading desk in New York and has been with BTIG for over 9 years. Bobby is from Madison, MS and graduated in 2003 from Ole Miss. While at Ole Miss, he was President of his Fraternity and also on the Varsity baseball team. In the past, he has been President of the Ole Miss/NYC Alumni Club as well as a member of the Business School Advisory Board.
Jennifer is currently the Head of Marketing and Investor Relations for Precocity Capital. From 2009-2015, Jennifer worked at Point72 Asset Management and its predecessor firm, SAC Capital, where she was a Director of Business Development responsible for hiring Portfolio Mangers and Analysts to the firm. Prior to that, Jennifer founded and led the Global Capital Introduction efforts for BTIG, LLC. Jennifer began her career on the Marketing Team at Avenue Capital Group. Jennifer graduated early and with honors from the University of Mississippi in 2003. While at Ole Miss, Jennifer served as the President of Mortar Board (Top 40 Seniors), Vice President of Chi Omega Sorority, President of Sigma Tau Delta (English Honors Society) and on the Presidential Cabinet as the Student Body Director of Community Service. Jennifer and her husband, Bobby, live in Rowayton, CT with their daughter, Davidson.
As the Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Development for GHC Housing Partners, Mr. Miller is responsible for overseeing the acquisition, debt and equity structuring and stabilization of new acquisition and rehabilitation projects. Mr. Miller has over 15 years of experience in the affordable housing industry, specializing in representing developers and nonprofits in the development and preservation of affordable housing. Mr. Miller has been responsible for structuring more than $1 billion in bond and tax credit financing transactions and analyzing and negotiating numerous development agreements and tax increment financings. Mr. Miller serves on the board of the Foundation for Affordable Housing, a national nonprofit specializing in affordable housing. He attended the University of Colorado, Boulder and graduated as a member of the dean’s honor list with a dual bachelor’s degree in business and urban planning.
Andrea Woods started her career in affordable housing 7 years ago. Her journey began by assisting the chronically homeless and disabled on the streets of Skid Row in Los Angeles, California. She has worked with organizations such the Department of Mental Health, Downtown Mental Health and Skid Row Housing to get people off of the streets and into safe, affordable housing. From that moment on Andrea realized that she had a knack for assisting individuals with special needs secure affordable housing. While on her journey she has managed project base section 8, HMSA, LIHTC, Section 202 and Bond communities. Her passion for her career has made her determined to continue to provide exceptional service to those in need of housing assistance.
